The historic route has long been one of the most if not the most popular tourist expedition in Ethiopia over the years. This particular route is one that follows historical and cultural backdrop of northern Ethiopia where the majority of the country’s history and heritage had stemmed from. This tour includes visits to ancient cities like Axum, Lalibela, Gondar and Bahir Dar whilst also including visit to different world renown heritage sites, like the rock hewn churches of Lalibela and the ancient Negash Mosque.

HISTORIC ROUTE 1
Bahir Dar – Gondar – Axum – Lalibela (By Surface) [14 Days + 13 Nights]

Day 1 : Arrive in Addis Ababa and overnight stay in dedicated Hotel
Day 2 : Drive to Debre Markos on the way visit Debrelibanos Monastery and Blue Nile Gorge. Overnight stay in Debre Markos Hotel
Day 3 : Drive to Bahir Dar and go on city tour of Bahir Dar
Day 4 : Drive to Blue Nile Water Falls and take a boat trip on Lake Tana
Day 5 : Drive to Gondar and visit the castle compound and the beautifully painted churches
Day 6 : Drive to Axum via Limalimo road constructed by Italians and famed for its winding and difficult road
Day 7 : Full Day tour in and around Axum town.
Day 8 : Drive to Adigrat on the way visiting Yeha Temple and Debre Damo Monastery. Overnight stay at Adigrat Hotel
Day 9 : Drive to Mekele en route visiting accessible rock hewn churches of Tigray and Negash Mosque
Day 10 : Drive to Lalibela via Mai Chew Road
Day 11 : Full Day tour to the 11 rock hewn churches of Lalibela
Day 12 : Drive to Kombolcha on the way visit Hayk Estefanos Monastery
Day 13 : Drive to Addis en route visiting Sembete market
Day 14 : Addis City tour and departure.

HISTORIC ROUTE 2
Axum – Lalibela – Gondar – Bahir Dar (By Flight) [6 Days + 5 Nights]

Day 1 : Arrive in Addis and overnight stay in hotel.
Day 2 : Fly to Axum and city tour
Day 3 : Fly to Lalibela and tour of the rock hewn churches
Day 4 : Fly to Gondar and visit the castle compound and the church
Day 5 : Fly to Bahir Dar and then drive to the Blue Nile Falls and go on a city tour of Bahir Dar afterwards
Day 6 : Fly back to Addis and go on a city tour before flight

HISTORIC ROUTE 3
Lalibela – Gondar – Semien Mountain Trekking (Flight+Surface) [ 9 Days + 8 Nights]

Day 1 : Arrive in Addis and overnight stay in hotel
Day 2 : Fly to Lalibela and visit the rock hewn churches
Day 3 : Fly to Gondar and visit the castle compound and Debre Birhan SIllasie Church
Day 4 : Drive to Semien Mountain National Park which is about 130km from Gondar overnight camping at Sankober
Day 5 : Trek from Sankober to Geech
Day 6 : Trek from Geech to Imet Gogo and trek back to Geech
Day 7 : Trek Geech to Chenek. Overnight camping at Chenek
Day 8 : Drive from Chenek to Gondar and fly back to Addis
Day 9 : Addis City Tour and Departure
