Historic Route + Danakil (Surface + Flight) [17 Days + 16 Nights]
Day 1: Arrive in Addis Ababa. Overnight stay in hotel
Day 2: Fly from Addis to Lalibela and visit the rock hewn churches of Lalibela. Overnight stay in hotel
Day 3: Excursion to Yemrhankirstos Church, which is about 45km from Lalibela town. Overnight stay in hotel
Day 4: Drive to Mekele through Mai-chew road enjoying the surrounding scenery. Overnight stay at hotel
Day 5: Drive from Mekele to Ahmed-ela Afar village and overnight there by camping
Day 6: Excursion to Dollol to see the dry salt lake and colorful sulfur fumerals
Day 7: Drive to Dodom or El-Dom and then start trekking to the active volcano Ertale and overnight stay there. In the early morning trek back to Dodom and then after breakfast drive back Ahmed-ela overnight by camping there.
Day 8: Drive to Wukro and overnight at Wukro hotel
Day 9: Drive to Hawzien en route visiting some of the Gheralta group rock churches. Overnight stay at Hawzien hotel or Gheralta Lodge.
Day 10: Drive to Axum through Adigrat enjoying the surrounding scenery overnight at Axum hotel
Day 11: Full Day city tour of Axum, overnight at Axum
Day 12: Drive to Semien Mountains National Park enjoying the scenery of Tekeze Gorge and Limalimo road. Overnight at Sankaber camping
Day 13: Trek from Sankaber to Geech, overnight stay at geech camping
Day 14: Trek from Geech to Imet Gogo and then back to Geech for overnight stay
Day 15: Trek from Geech to Chenek overnight stay by camping
Day 16: Drive from Chenek to Gondar, afternoon visit of the castle compound and Debre Birhan Sillasie church. Overnight stay in Gondar Hotel
Day 17: Fly back to Addis and city tour or departure.
